A key
super-cycle/clean-tech commodity
In the US, outside of bullion, over a third of gold (37%) is used in electronics – notably mobiles, laptops and PCs (USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries). To put that in context, there are circa a 1.5billion new phones sold each year and, according to U.S. Geological Survey, 0.034 grams of gold in each device.
In a post pandemic universe driven by fiscal stimulus policies, coupled with the transitioning towards a low-carbon economy, gold is set to be a long-term beneficiary in the commodities’ super-cycle now starting - not just as a store of value but as an essential clean-tech commodity.
